The 26-year-old German athlete, who competed in the mixed 4x400m relay at the Paris 2024 Olympics, revealed that she is training to compete in the 800m individual race and is shifting her focus to endurance running.
“It has been an incredible year. It was filled with so many highlights, and I have created memories that will stay with me forever: from the world relay in the Bahamas, where we qualified the mixed relay for the Olympics, to the European Championship in Rome, where we qualified the women’s 4x400m relay for Paris, to the German Nationals and of course, the Olympics,” she wrote in the caption of a recent post.
She went on to explain that she will still race the 400m, but for now, she will focus more on endurance in her training. “After Paris, I tried something new and ran 800m and 600m, and I really enjoyed stepping out of my comfort zone,” she explained.
“In 2022, I decided I wanted to try the 800m after the Paris Olympics, so now this means… I’ll give it a shot next year. I’m on my way to my first high-altitude training camp, where I’ll join an international 800m group to train alongside top athletes where I’ll learn a lot.”
“I’m super excited about this new challenge and what it will bring (I’ll still race the 400m, but for now, I’ll focus more on the endurance part of my training). Let this journey begin. Kisses,” she finished.
