A woman was furious after receiving the cake ordered for her brother’s 30th birthday: “it looks like it was made by a child.”
Sam Faulkner from Calcot, England, was excited to see the birthday cake she had ordered for her brother Graham’s 30th birthday. To get it just the way she wanted, Faulkner sent a photo of the model she liked: a “fishing” cake, all in blue with details like rocks, plants, little fish, a small wooden dock, and a fishing rod.

Faulkner had arranged everything with a baker she chose through Facebook, an account that has since been deleted, but when the cake arrived, she was furious at what she saw; besides not resembling anything she had asked for, it was covered in dog hair.
Sam’s mother, Sue Faulkner, was also outraged by the situation; “My daughter was upset when she opened the box,” she told Berkshire Live. “She paid half of what was agreed upon to this baker, and what came looked like it was made by a child. Honestly, it was ridiculously bad.”
The birthday cake had a patchy frosting, the shade of blue was nowhere near what Sam expected, the little wooden dock was a block of yellow icing with some lines, the plants and rocks didn’t look like plants and rocks, and there were no fish or fishing rod on the fishing-themed cake.
And if you thought it couldn’t get any worse than that, the cake even came ‘decorated’ with dog hair and, as the birthday boy’s mother aptly said: “The name Graham didn’t even have a capital letter!” Sue said the woman initially hesitated to refund her daughter but ended up returning a portion. Sam also reported her case to the local consumer protection agency so that others don’t go through the same problem she did.
