A 30-meter-wide and 10-meter-deep hole opened up in the middle of a soccer field in Alton, Illinois. Security cameras captured the incident that occurred last Wednesday (26) in a viral video.
According to a report from the Mine Safety Administration, the hole was caused by an underground mine of New Frontier Materials. Lamp posts and benches were swallowed by the hole, but there were no injuries reported.
“Safety is our top priority. We will work with the city to remedy this issue as quickly and safely as possible to ensure minimal impact on the community,” said New Frontier Materials in a statement.
