Over the years, her extremely long hair became a part of her identity and a source of self-confidence. However, recently, Vanessa decided to drastically change her look, opting for a chin-length cut. She is a mother of two, Rose aged 4 and Jasper aged 2, and shares her life with her 27-year-old husband.
“When I was little, I cut my hair and hated it. I promised myself that I would never cut it again. But after much reflection, I realized it was time to change, that long hair no longer served me and was causing problems in my life,” explains Vanessa.
She continued: “I wanted people to see more in me than just my hair. My four-meter-long hair always made me stand out, but I didn’t want to be known just for that.”
Vanessa kept the cut a secret until she revealed her new look to her 33,000 followers on TikTok, a platform where she became a sensation due to her “princess braids”. “I only told a few people, including my husband, before cutting my hair, because I didn’t want anyone else’s opinions to influence my decision,” she shared.
Despite fearing losing followers, the change reinforced her decision to move forward. “I had to face my fear that some people only cared about my hair. This helped me realize that my value doesn’t depend on my appearance. I want to show women that their value isn’t tied to physical attributes either. You are amazing just because you are you,” Vanessa concluded.
