Adriana Kiinch, an Emirates flight attendant, shared with her 12 million followers what the airline does with the champagne left in bottles opened for first-class passengers.
She first explained that the champagne served includes “Moët & Chandon and Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Brut” and that bottles are always opened fresh upon passenger request.
The leftover liquid in the bottles is not shared with passengers in other classes or with the crew. The flight attendant revealed that the contents are discarded.
“At the end of each flight, we dispose of all opened bottles of champagne so they can’t be reused on the next flight,” said Kiinch, as she poured the champagne down the drain.
A bottle of Veuve Clicquot can cost between $50 and $140, according to the manufacturer’s website.
