Braison Cyrus, 30, has spoken publicly for the first time since his brother Trace Cyrus shared an open letter expressing concerns about their father, Billy Ray Cyrus, following a controversial inaugural performance.
In an exclusive interview with People, Braison assured that there is no bad blood between him, his father, or the rest of the Cyrus family despite the apparent tension. “I don’t have any bad feelings toward anyone in my family,” the music producer stated.
Last Wednesday, January 22, Trace, 35, posted an open letter on Instagram to Billy Ray, who adopted him in 1993 after marrying his now ex-wife Tish Cyrus. In the heartfelt message, Trace claimed that he and his siblings “barely recognize” their father and are worried about him.
“It feels like this world has beaten you down, and it’s become obvious to everyone but you,” Trace wrote in part. “You might be upset with me for posting this, but honestly, I couldn’t care less anymore.”
Trace also mentioned his sisters Brandi Cyrus, 37, Miley Cyrus, 32, and Noah Cyrus, 25, in addition to Billy Ray’s son Christopher Cody, 32, with Kristin Luckey, and Braison with Tish Cyrus, from whom he divorced in 2022.
“The girls and I have been genuinely worried about you for years, but you’ve pushed all of us away,” Trace wrote. “We’re holding on to memories of the man we knew and hoping for the day he’ll return. You’re not healthy, Dad, and everyone is noticing.”
In the letter, Trace also shared his personal journey. “I’ve been sober from alcohol for over a year and a half, and guess what? I feel amazing. I don’t know exactly what you’re battling, but I have an idea and would love to help if you’d open up. Until then, I’ll keep praying for you.”
Although Trace did not directly mention it, the letter came just days after Billy Ray’s performance at Donald Trump’s *Liberty Inaugural Ball* on January 20. At the event, the 63-year-old singer faced technical difficulties while performing “Achy Breaky Heart” and “Old Town Road” with Lil Nas X, causing confusion and concern among the audience.
