During an interview on ABC’s “The Assembly” program, actor Sam Neill was moved to tears after being asked about his parents. The “Jurassic Park” star is battling stage three blood cancer.
Neill could not hold back his tears and was left speechless when talking about his family. “I don’t know why this question moved me so much, but it did,” said the actor.
He shared that his mother grew up without her father, as he had died in World War I. “They went through a lot, but they were very stoic people,” Neill recalled.
The actor also remembered a touching moment with his mother when he was struggling at university. “She just looked at me and said, ‘Well, you’re going to have to pull yourself together, aren’t you?’. I think that was the best lesson I learned from her; sometimes you just have to pull yourself together.”
Sam Neill has been battling blood cancer since 2022, the same year he was able to visit his family in New Zealand after the Covid-19 pandemic.
