McDonald’s UK is celebrating 50 years in the country, and a video showing an 80s-themed franchise location has gone viral on social media.
The first branch opened in 1974 in Woolwich, London, and the McDonald’s profile decided to showcase what a restaurant decorated in the late 80s and early 90s looked like.
A staff member gives a tour of the establishment with old cash registers, menus from the era, and a children’s area featuring the “Apple Pie Tree.” Hamburger-shaped benches are also a highlight for fans.
Even a “Employee of the Month” plaque is hanging on the wall.
“Change everything back to when it was great, hamburger chairs, parties, the best Happy Meal toys,” said a nostalgic fan.
“Remember the hamburger chairs? Why would anyone get rid of them?,” said another with longing.
“Bring back the 90s-sized Big Mac, those Styrofoam boxes, and the old milkshakes!,” urged another.
McDonald’s UK stated in a statement that they are “running a nostalgic 80s-themed advertising campaign” and the proceeds from the Birthday Cake Donut will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities UK.
