Simpson, 32, told the Daily Star that some scars from past surgeries, such as her cesarean and silicone implants, opened up and became “infected” during the filming of the reality show, designed to push its participants to the limit.

“And the more I went in and out of the water, and then I wasn’t drying my body, the worse it got. And I was thinking, I loved the show, but I don’t think it’s worth it for my health,” she said.

“Right after having a baby, I wasn’t well, my baby had colic, so I wasn’t in a good mental state. And then, physically, my cesarean was still quite painful, and after the surgery, my breasts were too. It wasn’t the right time,” she lamented.

This year’s season will be filmed in New Zealand and will bring below-freezing temperatures, making the situation even more challenging for the star-studded cast, including Bianca Gascoigne, Georgia Harrison, Anthony Ogogo, and Pete Wicks.

“From the first second, recruits are expected to give 100%. Anyone who doesn’t will leave before having time to apologize. Our time is invaluable – we won’t waste it on anyone who isn’t worthy,” said chief instructor Billy.
