The 27-year-old influencer was stopped by authorities last month with around 40kg of cannabis hidden in her suitcase. She claimed the suitcase belonged to a friend who had asked her to bring luxury clothes and watches from Thailand.

In her initial version, she said she had packed the suitcase before going to the airport, but later stated that the suitcase was given to her when she arrived at the airport. Bednarska pleaded guilty to smuggling, but was not arrested due to her clean criminal record.

During the trial, Judge John Potter mentioned that she had debts of around $20,000 and thus resorted to “desperate but highly illegal means” to pay them off. As a result, she had lost her “impeccable” character.

“You decided to trust someone you barely knew. You acted under the direction of others, potentially to make more profit,” the judge continued during the hearing, before stating that she should undergo 15 days of rehabilitation.
