At 24 years old, Zhou, who began her foray into poker in 2021, is pointed out as a promising rising star in this sport. Her transition from chess to poker was fueled by a skill swap with poker master Fedor Holz, who offered to teach her the secrets of poker in exchange for chess lessons.

Zhou, a natural strategist, is already making a name for herself at the poker tables, utilizing the psychological and strategic skills learned in chess. Her journey in chess is notable: she won a female sub-10 championship in Finland at the age of five, became a world female sub-14 champion in 2014, and achieved the title of grandmaster at 17.

In an interview with the German media BILD, Zhou shared that many of the skills making her a successful poker player were acquired in chess, highlighting the importance of strategic thinking in both games. She advises poker beginners to start by learning the hand rankings and playing many hands to get a better feel for the game.
