A Japanese man, Daisuke Hori, claims to have slept only 30 minutes a day for the past 12 years to “double” his life and increase his work efficiency.

Hori, a 40-year-old entrepreneur and bodybuilder, adopted this extreme routine after realizing that 16 hours a day were not enough for his activities. He trained his body and mind to function well with reduced sleep and never feels tired, believing that sleep quality is more important than quantity.

Daisuke created the Japan Short Sleepers Training Association in 2016, where he offers courses to teach others to adopt this lifestyle. His course, which takes about a month to complete, costs around $380.

The Japanese man has already trained over 2,100 students and believes that less sleep can result in more energy, citing examples of professionals like firefighters and doctors who work efficiently with less rest.

However, Daisuke Hori’s approach has generated controversy, with some criticizing his methodology and behavior in media appearances. Studies from the U.S. National Library of Medicine warn of the risks associated with lack of sleep, such as hypertension, diabetes, and other negative health conditions.
