A luxurious New York hospital is going viral for its unusual practice of giving out Chanel gift bags to lucky mothers after childbirth.

Chloe Tucker Caine, from Netflix’s reality show Owning Manhattan, gave birth at the New York-Presbyterian Alexandra Cohen Hospital for Women and Newborns at Weill Cornell Medical Center and shocked her followers by showing off the Chanel gifts she received from the hospital.
Caine’s gift bag included large bottles of the brand’s foaming facial cleanser, which costs $58, Coco Chanel perfume valued at $110, and a tube of red lipstick worth $58.
It also contained a note that read: “Congratulations on your first motherhood. Here is something special from the hospital.” Showing off her new facial cleanser, the real estate agent joked that she could finally wash her face after being unable to do so for three days.
At one time, New York-Presbyterian also had a sponsorship deal with Ralph Lauren that allowed them to offer designer baby clothes to mothers leaving the maternity ward, according to The Guardian.
However, the gifts come with a pretty steep price, as giving birth in the elite ward costs around $35,000, nearly four times the average price in the United States, according to Turquoise Health.
