“We had a discussion with the intimacy coordinator, and then Nicole and I kind of did our own things once we defined the parameters of what we were both comfortable with,” said the 28-year-old actor in an interview with Variety published on Wednesday.
“The intimacy coordinator is saying, ‘What are you comfortable with, what do you want as a director, what do you feel comfortable doing from this vision?’. They facilitate that and do it very delicately, without interrupting the actual scene.”
“Given the nature of that film, you would either be completely vulnerable and exposed, or you would be protected, and then it wouldn’t connect,” Kidman explained about the film Babygirl. Recently, she admitted she felt so “excited” during the filming that she had to ask for a break.
She also confessed that this was the most “exposing” project she has ever done. “This [film] definitely leaves me exposed, vulnerable, scared, and all of those things when it’s given to the world, but doing it with these people here was delicate and intimate. Now [pre-release], we’re all a bit nervous,” the actress said, praising the work of director Halina Reijn.
“[It’s a] story about a woman […] told by a woman through her perspective. That is, for me, what made it so unique because suddenly I would be in the hands of a woman with this material. It was very close to our shared instincts and very liberating,” Kidman added.
