British golfer Charley Hull says her poor performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics was due to the smoking ban on the course.

During the women’s golf tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympics, golfer Charley Hull said on Tuesday (6) that her performance in the competition may have been below expectations because she couldn’t smoke.

“I think it would, because it relaxes me a bit. But it is what it is,” she told Le Golf International. Charley has been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and said that smoking helps her manage the condition.

The athlete had a disappointing performance with 9 over par, 81, last Wednesday (7). She has been spotted smoking on the course several times before. Charley, however, attributed the result to a shoulder injury and being off the game since June.

“I hope I’ve shaken off the rust and I’m looking forward to, hopefully, shooting nine under tomorrow,” she told USA Today.
