Even more than 25 years after the premiere of “Titanic”, actor Reece Thompson still receives payments for his role in the film. Reece began his acting career at the age of five.
In an interview with Business Insider, the actor mentioned that his agent had offered him the choice of either appearing in a gas station commercial or taking a small role in a “big film”.
“Let’s just do this. It will be fun. Even if the movie is bad, we’ll watch it”, Reece’s mother said to him. “Titanic” has grossed over $2 billion at the global box office.
Reece plays the role of a child from the poorest class of passengers who meets a tragic end with his family during the ship’s sinking.
The actor shares that every year he receives checks for the film’s residuals. “When it happens, it’s like, ‘Oh, cool, an extra $100’. There have been times when it’s like: ‘Oh, wow, it’s a $250 check’”, he said.
“But I hope they keep showing it, because that means more money for me”, Reece joked.
