British writer Bella Lamorte had to undergo plastic surgery to remove dead tissue after being bitten by a spider while visiting her boyfriend in Staffordshire, England.

Bella told the Daily Star that she felt a throbbing pain in her ankle at the moment of the bite. The next day, she could barely walk and went to the hospital.

“I had to crawl up the stairs. It was very swollen. It felt like someone was constantly stabbing a dagger into my foot,” Bella described.

She had to undergo surgery to remove the dead and infected tissue. Bella was scared when doctors said she could lose her foot or even her leg.

The writer is now awaiting plastic surgery to cover the hole left in her foot with a skin graft. The quick arrival at the hospital prevented her from having to amputate the limb. Doctors still do not know which spider bit Bella.
