During his appearance on Hart to Heart, hosted by Kevin Hart, Ben opened up about adjusting to his wife’s fame after their 2022 marriage. “She’s very famous and she creates that – people love her and she really represents something important to people,” explained the actor to the host.
“[For me] people are like, ‘Hey, I like your movie,’ and then they’re like, ‘AAAHHHH! J-LO!’. It’s amazing, you know what I mean?” he added, recalling an occasion when the couple went out with their kids to a play in New York.
Ben is a father to three children, Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, from his relationship with his ex-wife, actress Jennifer Garner, while Lopez is mother to twins Max and Emme, 16, from her former husband, singer Marc Anthony.
“We got out of the car, we were going to see a play and I thought, ‘Wow, honey, we’re going to be late, we need to walk a block and a half’. [Lopez was] like, ‘Okay’, she didn’t say anything. We walked out with her, all the kids, through Times Square, and it was all very insane,” he recounted.
“I was like, ‘Oh my God’. There was a lady, she was smoking pot, in a tight purple suit – she’s a heavyset lady – and she started running back and forth filming, saying, ‘J-LO!'”, the actor said.
Ben also addressed the comments internet users make about his infamous facial expressions in paparazzi photos, noting that sometimes he looks frustrated because he’s “a little shy”.
“I don’t like a lot of attention. That’s why people see me and think, ‘Why is that guy always angry?’. Because someone put the camera in my face and I thought, ‘Okay, let’s do this’,” he explained.
