Last week, Ashley went viral after proudly displaying her stretch marks during Paris Fashion Week. The model is a mother to Isaac, 4, and twins Roman and Malachi, 2, from her marriage to Justin Ervin. Shortly after the birth of her youngest, she reflected on the changes in her body after pregnancy.
“I thought to myself, ‘Okay, Ashley, you can handle this. You’ve had some before; that’s just life. You’re a champion of all body types; who cares? This is going to be a big moment. You can share this with other women; it’s fantastic,'” she told Glamour magazine.
“But then they started to go up even more, and you could see them coming out of my panty line and then above my belly button, and I melted. I talked about it with my midwives. I talked about it with Justin. I was bringing it up constantly with my team.”
“I was like, ‘You don’t understand. I used to be a [beauty] symbol, and now I’m a baby-making machine with stretch marks up to my belly button. What the hell is going on?'” she lamented.
“Then one day, I just stopped and thought, ‘Screw it, this is my life,’ and posted a picture of my stretch marks on Instagram, which that day my husband described as resembling the tree of life. Bless him,” the model added.
