The football world lost one of its legends this Tuesday, Andreas Brehme, world champion with Germany in 1990. Brehme, who was 63 years old, passed away due to a cardiac arrest, after being rushed to a hospital in Munich.

Brehme is remembered for his iconic moment in the 1990 World Cup when he scored the winning goal for Germany against Argentina in the final. His penalty kick, executed with his right foot despite being left-footed, deceived the Argentine goalkeeper Goycoechea, known for his ability to defend penalties. This goal secured the World Cup title for Germany that year.

Throughout his career, Brehme represented the German national team in 86 matches, leaving an impressive legacy in football. In addition to his triumph in the World Cup, Brehme amassed a series of significant titles both in clubs and for the national team.

Among his most notable titles are the 1990 World Cup for Germany, the 1991 UEFA Cup for Inter Milan, the 1989 Italian Championship also for Inter, the 1987 German Championship for Bayern Munich, and in 1998 for Kaiserslautern. He also won the German Cup and the German Supercup with Kaiserslautern in 1996, as well as the Italian Supercup in 1989 with Inter Milan.
