Heather Graham, the actress from “Boogie Nights,” revealed that she has not spoken to her parents since she was 25 because they did not approve of her decision to pursue an acting career.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, the star of “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me” said that her father, a former FBI agent, disapproved of her dream to become an actress.

“He regularly told me that the entertainment industry was evil and that Hollywood would steal my soul if I became an actress,” she revealed.

She left the University of California in her third year to focus on acting. Graham moved out of her parents’ house a year after the release of the film “License to Drive” in 1988.

The actress’s mother encouraged and believed in her dream of becoming an actress, but Graham says it was a “confusing message.”

“I stopped talking to my parents when I was 25, and I am now distant from them. My friends are proud of me, and I am proud of myself. I have very good friends,” Graham said.
