Mercy Li recently revealed that she decided to quit her job at a bank to produce adult content. However, she confessed that she had to hide her career change from her parents.

Li, 33, who holds a PhD in Business and Law from the University of London and worked as a public relations manager at Citibank in Singapore, changed careers after being approached by an agent from a modeling agency while shopping for lingerie.

But she admitted that her mother and father would disown her if they found out the truth. “Fortunately, my parents are not very tech-savvy and haven’t heard any news about me. To this day, they are completely unaware of my work as a model,” she told the Daily Star website.

“Considering the predominant conservative views in our Asian culture, this line of work is not widely accepted, and I fear they might reject me if they find out. I often feel anxious when someone in public indicates they recognize me from somewhere.”

“My parents remain unaware of my authentic lifestyle. Even though I wear expensive clothes, I don’t always reflect the respect that I receive externally. Living in Singapore, I am aware of the different limitations and restrictions that accompany my choices,” added the muse.

And she concluded by saying she doesn’t regret the career change. “I don’t miss my job […] at the bank. As a model, I like the way men’s eyes linger on me […], there’s something exciting about being looked at that way.”
