The 20th season of Grey’s Anatomy has been indefinitely postponed due to Hollywood strikes.

The medical drama traditionally returns for new seasons in September, but although ABC has already confirmed its premiere dates for the season, Grey’s is off that list.
This comes amid strikes from the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the actors’ union SAG-AFTRA, which have affected a large number of TV and film projects.

Core issues have included streaming residual payments and the rise of artificial intelligence (AI).

In May, Grey’s Anatomy confirmed the return of several cast members for the 20th season, including James Pickens Jr (Richard Webber), Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey), Kevin McKidd (Owen Hunt), Camilla Luddington (Jo Wilson), and Caterina Scorsone (Amelia Shepherd). Harry Shum Jr (Benson Kwan, also known as Blue), Adelaide Kane (Jules Millin), Alexis Floyd (Simone Griffiths), Niko Terho (Lucas Adams), and Midori Francis (Mika Yasuda) are also set to appear.

The show’s last season saw a number of significant departures, such as star Ellen Pompeo, who has famously portrayed Meredith Grey since the pilot, Kelly McCreary as Dr. Maggie Pierce, and showrunner Krista Vernoff.
